Marvin F. Cockrell's second CD, "HEAT". exemplifies all of
Marvin F. Cockrell's musical achievements in one package. It
is the essence of who Marvin is and
what he is all about. More importantly, it is a pleasure for the
listener that is seeking more than business as usual in the
jazz arena.
The "Heat" CD was released in August of 2004. Marvin's dream
of embracing the audience with the same energy and passion
he felt when composing "Heat" was brought to life when he
teamed up with the talented band, Focus. Focus consists of
Sean Holland (bass), Michael King (guitar), and James
Jackson (drums).
Featured guest artists adding flavor to the mix are: Tim
Cunningham (saxophone), Steve Johnston (guitar), Dennis
Gill (flugel horn and trumpet), and Tylissa Tee Schaffer
(vocalist). Marvin is also accompanied by his daughter,
Maurya Cockrell (age 11) on several cuts.
"Heat" is hot, powerful, full of energy, yet smooth. The CD
exudes the essence of Marvin F. Cockrell. "Heat" just may be
